My baby seems to have a sore throat — he’s uncomfortable swallowing and his cry sounds scratchy. Could he have an infection?

newbornIf your baby seems to be having a hard time swallowing and his cry is sounding rather scratchy, your baby could have an infection. Remember that your baby cannot talk to you to tell you what’s wrong, so if the condition starts to worsen, you should be ready to take him to the doctor if need be. If at any point your baby has a fever that is close to or above 100 degrees, you should take him in to have a check-up. If the sore throat or raspy cry persists for more than a couple of days, you should also take him in to have a check-up. The most important thing you can do as a parent is to be aware of the condition and any changes that take place.
