Carbohydrates. Good or Bad for Weight Loss?
Even though low carbohydrate diets are becomming popular again, doctors do not agree with them. Doctors do not support the low carb diets because the diets have a high fat content, restrict fruits and vegetables, and high fiber breads and cereals. The idea that taking in too many carbs causes weight gain is misleading. Consuming to many calories causes weight gain. Low carb diets cause you to lose weight because they restirict your energy intake. Following this diet starves your body of the essential nutrients it needs, and can cause major metabolic disturbances. The rapid weight loss on the low carbohydrate diet is mainly the loss of water, not body fat.
